Shannon Alpha Program Participant Agreement

This document is provided for informational purposes. Professional legal review is recommended.

Effective for the Shannon Alpha period (April – June 2026).

Thank you for being one of Shannon's first users. Your feedback is shaping what Shannon becomes, and we want to be completely transparent about how this early testing period works.

By joining the Shannon Alpha Program, you understand and consent to the following:

1. The Shannon team may review your usage during the alpha period.

We may review your usage, including how Shannon interacts with your connected services and your usage patterns. When investigating a specific bug, unexpected behavior, or user-reported issue, we may also review your conversations with Shannon. We do not do this as routine monitoring.

To be clear: we look at how Shannon interacts with your connected services (what Shannon read, what Shannon summarized, what Shannon did). We do not read the underlying emails, messages, or calendar content themselves.

There is one exception. We will review your onboarding conversation in full. Understanding how new users experience Shannon's first session is critical to building it well, and onboarding is the only conversation we review as a matter of course rather than for debugging.

We do this to:

  • Understand how people actually use Shannon
  • Identify bugs and unexpected behavior
  • Learn what's working and what isn't
  • Improve Shannon's responses and features

2. This access is limited and controlled.

  • Only members of the Shannon team (Cluesmith LLC) can access your data.
  • All team members are bound by confidentiality agreements.
  • We will never share your personal data outside the team.
  • We will never publish your data or use it in marketing without your explicit permission.

3. This access is temporary.

When the alpha period ends, this additional access ends. Your account will transition to Shannon's standard Privacy Policy, under which the team does not have routine access to your personal data. The alpha period is expected to end in June 2026. We will notify you at least 7 days before the alpha period concludes and your account transitions to standard terms. If the alpha period extends beyond the expected end date, we will notify you and reconfirm your consent.

4. You can leave at any time.

If you want to withdraw from the alpha program:

  • Email us at [email protected].
  • Your data will be deleted within 30 days unless you choose to keep your account for the general launch. We will stop all team access to your data immediately. If you choose to keep your account for general launch, your data remains but is governed solely by the standard Privacy Policy.

5. What we will never do

Even during alpha, we will never:

  • Sell your data to anyone.
  • Share your data with anyone outside the Shannon team.
  • Use your data to train AI models without your explicit consent.
  • Send emails or messages from your accounts without your approval (either per-action or under a standing permission you've granted).
  • Access services you haven't connected.

6. What we ask of you

  • Use Shannon naturally. We know it's hard to use something naturally when you know it's being reviewed. We're asking you to try, because the more realistic your usage, the better Shannon becomes.
  • Tell us when something is broken, confusing, or annoying.
  • Be honest in your feedback — it directly shapes the product.
  • Let us know if anything feels like a privacy concern.

7. Your data during alpha

What Who can see it When access ends
Your onboarding conversation with Shannon Shannon team (full review) End of alpha
Your other conversations with Shannon Shannon team — only when investigating a specific bug or your support request End of alpha
Your connected service interactions (which emails Shannon read, which calendar entries Shannon saw, what Shannon did with them) Shannon team End of alpha
Your underlying email, message, and calendar content Shannon (the AI) only — the team sees what Shannon did with it, not the raw content End of alpha
Your usage patterns (features used, session length) Anonymized analytics only — cannot be traced back to you Retained indefinitely as anonymized data

If we become aware of any unauthorized access to your data during the alpha period, we will notify you within 72 hours.

8. After Alpha

Alpha testers keep their data and their account. When Shannon moves to paid, you'll know well in advance.

9. Consent

By creating an account during the alpha period, you confirm that you have read and agree to this Alpha Participant Agreement, the Shannon Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. During the alpha period, this agreement controls where it conflicts with the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy. When the alpha period ends, this agreement no longer applies, and your account is governed solely by the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
